This week week I started a new routine which I’ve been enjoying. The new routine was sparked by my decision to quit my day job. Woot! No more soul-sucking work every morning! No more dreading waking up! The beginning of each day is now filled with hope and excitement instead of angst and annoyance. When my alarm goes off, I’m actually happy about it.
Here’s the routine: Wake up around 5:30am. Make coffee. Dick around online for a half hour. Hop in a #1k1hr with some Twitter friends until 10am or 11am. Edit and network in the afternoons.
I love it. I go out into the living room, which is dark at 5:30 in the morning. I bundle up under my quilt. I have a new French press (Thermos Nissan, it rocks) that keeps my coffee hot. The humongo windows mean that I get light just as soon as the sun pokes up to say hello.
When Lucas heads off to work at 8am, I happily enjoy the fact that I’ve already gotten lots of work done and I do not have to go anywhere. I may not make as much money as I did before, but I sure don’t mind.
This week I’ve been thankful for being able to make any money at all, doing something I enjoy.
