Which would be one thing if I wrote, like, Roald Dahl style fiction. Or Janet Evanovich style fiction.
(Incidentally, there’s a caning scene in Dahl’s book Boy that I read when I was young. And re-read. And re-read.)
So, what do readers assume about authors of erotic fiction?
This particular person is an intelligent human being, capable of separating fiction from reality. But yet, considering I’m an author who is able to dream up a punishment involving an inflatable butt plug, a giant dildo, a penis gag, and contract law…
And considering I write this blog…
I worry.
But not too much. A little bit of worrying is fun.
Back to the assumptions, though. There are loads of assumptions readers can make about writers. Loads. Some will be true and others false.
Do I see myself in some of my characters? Yup. When I’m writing, do I imagine being inside the scene? Absolutely (and it’s fucked up, weird, and fun; I totally recommend trying this if you haven’t). Sometimes I’m a fly on the wall and other times I’m a character. Both scenarios make for an interesting experience.
I guess I don’t really care what assumptions are made about me. With people I end up meeting and potentially fucking, the assumptions will get sorted out naturally. And for readers who envision a kink-crazy sex-obsessed Sadey Quinn… well, they would be correct. However far they want to take that is up to them.
Besides, any of you reading this blog regularly are, in your own ways, kink-crazy and sex-obsessed, too. I like you.
xoxo
Sadey
