Hot Summer Nights Giveaways!

I think most of us can agree that we are well on our way into summer*. Sunny skies (sometimes), gardens starting (tomorrow), and love in the air (…).

One of my favorite things about summer is having a whole lot of BBQs. Relaxing with friends, drinking beer and wine, sharing great food… what beats that? Oh… maybe skinny dipping in the lake at sunset? Or sharing a kiss with a long-time crush under a star-filled sky? The warmth of summer brings out the best in me. Or the sex in me. Maybe it’s the skimpy outfits I end up wearing to cope with the hot days.

🙂

Welcome to the Hot Summer Nights Bloghop! Every person participating in this bloghop writes erotic fiction. So, I know you want to check them all out. See this page for the complete list.

This bloghop has a HUGE giveaway.

First, every participating author is giving away something to someone who comments on his/her blog. Here on my blog, I’ll be giving away an e-book to every single person who comments on this entry before midnight on the last day of the hop: June 24. Your comment should include one of your favorite things about summer. Bonus points (but no bonus books) if it’s a kinky thing. Choose between Under Order, Social Service or Spanktastic.

(I realize some of you have read all those books. Don’t worry. I will think of something special for you.)

Secondly, if you comment here, or on one of the other participating blogs, you will automatically be entered to win one of the two grand prizes:

grand prize numero uno:

One lucky person will win a $100 gift card to spend at Eden Fantasys.

grand prize numero dos:

Another lucky person will win nearly FIFTY erotica romance novels!

holy balls, that’s a lotta books

So, comment below with your favorite summer thing or things and you’ll automatically be entered in to win one of the grand prizes! It will be logistically helpful to me if you also include which of my books you’d like to receive.

Happy Summer Days!

*I realize that for those in the southern hemisphere, this bloghop may sadden you. Don’t worry. You’ll have your summer soon. STILL tell me your favorite thing about summer though, not winter. I don’t want you to kill my good-weather-high!

Find the list of participating authors here.

Alliteration My Vocation

Nate is reading Odyssey for Passion, and sometimes he pauses to read a passage out loud. This one, in particular, was fun:

With one hand she caressed her breasts and with the other
she explored the folds of her smooth, slick slit.

Seriously, try saying “Smooth, slick slit” five times fast. It is not easy.

Fifty Shades Reading Lists

Happy Saturday! I just want to share a couple of links and a very strong, firm warning.

The Warning: Fifty Shades of Grey is touted as BDSM erotica, but it is, quite frankly, very fucking tame. So–if you love love love Fifty, you may not really love love love the books on these lists that are actually BDSM erotica. 🙂 You’ve been warned. Firmly.

OK, so one list is on Facebook: What to read after 50 Shades of Grey. It’s curated by erotica writer Summer Daniels.

And another list is organized by Bo Blaze, an alternative life coach and longtime practitioner of BDSM and sex positivism. What Other Books are like 50/Fifty Shades of Grey? – a kinky reading list. What I really like about his list is the non-fiction section. For curious readers who are just getting into BDSM and/or sexual powerplay, I recommend checking out some non-fiction books before diving into fiction/fantasy.

I’m going to spend a good portion of my day reading a couple of the books on those lists. I hope the links are useful to some of you!

Review: Under Order

A voracious reader, Ciara, kindly wrote a review of Under Order. Check out her review of my novel, along with her thoughts on other novels, over at her blog.

I sent Ciara my novel after reading her review of 50 Shades of Grey. I figured, hey, she’s eloquent! And someone who likes 50 Shades might like my books!

Then I read her reviews of other novels and began to get nervous… The woman is freaking honest. Which is a good thing, by the way. I’ve always told myself a review is less than shit if it isn’t honest.

Needless to say, I’m really happy Ciara enjoyed the book. It’s nerve-wracking to send books out to be reviewed. Most of the time people choose not to read, or don’t read for whatever reason, or maybe they do read it but don’t want to tell me they thought that it sucked.

Which leads me to tell you about my first bad review. If you were just reading this for Ciara’s review, click here. Because I’m about to digress…

The First Bad Review
It was a few months after publishing the book. I woke up one morning and noticed I had a new review on Goodreads! Oh heavens! The excitement!

Then I saw it. One freaking star.

My heart sank. My throat tightened. What, oh what did I do to deserve one horrible star?

I won’t say what book it was for, and I won’t say who the reviewer is, but I will say this: She slept on her review and changed it. To four stars (out of five). She was just so flipping angry with me for part of the book that she couldn’t do anything but hate the story.

This, folks, is a strange power that should be in the hands of no writer. Erm, or at least not me.

The woman who hated the book has become one of my best contacts for feedback and insight. I love it. I flipping love the interaction I have with readers. I love the dialog. I love that I’m starting to see a few of them as ‘friends’.

I love that Under His Roof is going to be a better book because of their help.

It actually makes me choke up and get all soppy.

Is soppy even a word?

Under His Roof: Beta Version Released!

I just sent out the beta copies of Under His Roof to an amazing group of readers. I’m so excited to hear their reactions to this novella. Under His Roof is a fun story of a lovely, slightly bitchy woman who needs a little ‘correction’ in her life. ‘Correction’ turns out to be spankings, and this novella is full of spankings!

If you’re a reader who might be interested in beta reading, read this post and contact me. Try to include at least something enticing about your reading and feedback skills. I’ve gotten a few messages that are along the lines of, ‘Sadie I be good reader 4 u’… to which I respond, ‘thx Jeremy203Spanker, butt I’m allz good’.

And, to the current beta-readers, THANKS THANKS THANKS, you are all awesome. Nate thought I didn’t need you until I got such excellent, insightful feedback for Slaves on Pertz. I’ve really been floored by all the thoughtful comments I’ve received.

🙂
